[Pulse] It's hover bike day.

Tadashi had made a point of trying not to depend on Bending too much. Bending was an amazing tool (a lifesaver in many cases, both literally and figuratively) and Tadashi devoted quite a lot of time to improving upon his own, but he was careful not to let himself become too reliant on it for every day activities. Bending made things faster and more convenient, but it also made it easy to overlook details and take what used to be difficult tasks for granted.
But man, this all would've gone a lot faster if they could've still used Bending. They'd been nearly finished before leaving Nautilus, forcing the Hamadas to begin their project from scratch. No blueprints. None of the coding Tadashi had spent weeks painstakingly stringing together. No raw materials to start with. Just pure determination coupled with whatever time and money they could spare to bring the childhood dream to life, but it was finally finished.
The hover bike was complete.
Tadashi sat back in his chair, blinking at his computer screen as the last scan ran its course. There had been a few test runs within the lab, of course, mostly slow circles to test lift and balance while Hiro bounced impatiently from wherever he'd perched to watch, but this was really it. The last of all the careful testing and adjustments that Tadashi could think of before there was no other option than to just take the bike out and fly. Just a few more seconds and- there it was.
"... We're done."
for Caesar
Date: 2016-11-15 04:46 am (UTC)So it was later, after Tadashi declared the bike "testing" done for the day and Hiro had reluctantly found something else to occupy himself with (something that was very likely not the sleeping that Tadashi had suggested), that the elder Hamada finally went looking for Caesar. His clothes were rumpled and hair was a mess from so much time under his helmet, but Tadashi was grinning from ear to ear when he found his partner, obviously still riding the high of his and Hiro's success.
"It runs like a dream!"
